Eligibility:
In order to register for the program, families must have at least one youth aged 11-17, be willing to complete an anonymous survey before and after the program, and be experiencing high levels of conflict and/or stress in the home or community. Sources of conflict may include:

Frequent arguments among caregivers and youth

Risk of youth becoming gang involved

Substance use
-
Youth frequently absent from school

Youth becoming involved with criminal activity

Marginalization due to socioeconomic status (i.e. experiencing poverty or racism)
-
Involved with other local resources or agencies, such as Justice or Child and Family Services
-
Recent Refugee or Immigrant to Canada

Registration:
Families may inquire about the program by contacting Amy Graham, Project Manager (204-953-5820 or amyg@kanikanichihk.ca) or one of our Site Coordinators. Families will be asked to complete a registration form, which includes a short, confidential needs assessment. All families will be contacted within 1 week of submitting a registration form. At that time, a intake appointment will be arranged. If the session is full, families may request to be placed on a wait list for the next session.
Each intake appointment will consist of:

Reviewing registration form

Confirm all persons who will be attending program

Discuss and plan for transportation and child care needs

Review consent forms and surveys

Confirm plan for first date of program

Referrals:
Referrals are accepted on behalf of families by local service providers, non-profit organizations, as well as Winnipeg School Division, Child and Family Services and Winnipeg Police.
